How to Choose a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Storage Tank? Practical Selection Guide
As key special equipment for industrial gas supply and gas station supporting facilities, LPG storage tanks directly affect project acceptance, operational safety and service life. Many buyers only focus on low prices and end up with non-standard tanks, which may lead to acceptance failures, potential safety hazards and frequent maintenance issues.
Follow these four key points for proper selection:
1. Determine the proper volume
Calculate capacity based on daily gas consumption and delivery cycle, with a 10%-20% safety margin. Choose a larger volume for remote sites and continuous production to avoid frequent refilling.
2. Select tank structure according to site conditions
Horizontal tanks are the top choice for small and medium-sized factories and commercial projects for easy installation, simple maintenance and cost-effectiveness. Vertical tanks suit sites with limited floor space. Spherical tanks are ideal for large gas storage stations thanks to large capacity and excellent pressure resistance.
3. Control core technical parameters
Qualified tanks shall have a design pressure of no less than 1.77MPa and be made of national standard Q345R pressure vessel steel. All products undergo automatic welding, non-destructive testing and hydrostatic test. Custom low-temperature resistant tanks are available for northern cold regions to prevent steel embrittlement.
4. Equip with standard safety accessories
Standard fittings include safety valves, pressure gauges, liquid level gauges and emergency shut-off valves, fully complying with inspection and safety regulations. Intelligent remote monitoring systems are optional for large projects.
